Bernadette Peters

 

Bernadette Peters (nee Lazzara was born on February 28 1948) is an American actor, singer and children's book writer. She has appeared on films, television as well as in musical theatre and individual concerts as well as on recorded recordings. Her career spans over six decades. She is a highly-acclaimed Broadway performer, having received seven nominations for Tony Awards, winning two (plus an honorary award) and nine Drama Desk Award nominations, winning three. Four of her Broadway cast albums on which she has performed have received Grammy Awards.



 



 Peters is widely acknowledged as the most well-known interpreter of the works by Stephen Sondheim. Her roles on Broadway include Mack and Mabel (1974), Sunday in the Park with George (84), Song and Dance (1985), Into the Woods with George (87), The Goodbye Girl(93), Annie Get Your Gun 1999), Gypsy (2003), A Little Night Music (2009), Follies (2011) as well as Hello, Dolly (2018).
